Happy Birthday! Birthday Party Tips from Family Custom Charters

September is the most common month to have a birthday—but who says yours can’t be truly one-of-a-kind?

If you (or someone you love) is celebrating a birthday soon, Family Custom Charters can help make it a truly unforgettable occasion. After all, there’s no backdrop quite like the beautiful waterways off Daytona Beach for a party that really “wows…”

Read on as we share a few top tips for throwing your own on-the-water party!

Plan the perfect guest list

The first step of every great party is, of course, the guest list. Depending on the type of experience you want, you can enjoy a cruise with the family or invite the whole crew out on one of our 12-people trips to the sandbar! You can even bring your furry friend along for the ride.

Surprise!

If you’re planning the party for a loved one, why not make it a surprise party? There’s no better treat than seeing your friend or family member react to a surprise outing on the water (be forewarned, there may be lots of squeals!). One great way to plan your surprise is to treat the birthday boy or girl to a brunch or lunch outing at Aunt Catfish’s on the River. We’re right at the back of the dock, so you can easily enjoy a tasty meal (including some of their famous cinnamon rolls), then, for the cherry on top, surprise the guest of honor with the big news—you’re going on a boat trip!

Your dream itinerary

With so many options to choose from, there’s a birthday boat trip for every kind of celebration. Adult friends will love getting together over wine and meat-and-cheese platters on a luxe Sunset Cruise, while the kiddos will be served well with a Premium Sandbar Trip where they can dig into treats like grilled burgers, hot dogs or sandwiches, as well as plenty of snacks and drinks to go around. They will also love splashing around on our giant Lilly Pad, swimming or paddle boarding—though of course, there’s no age limit to this kind of classic fun!

If your birthday guest of honor is an avid angler, they might even enjoy a round of inshore or offshore fishing! (Is there any better gift than landing a monster, photo-worthy catch?) If you have an original idea for a tour, let us know—we can make your dream birthday happen.

Birthday party games

It wouldn’t be a birthday party without some games! Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered on this end. Every sandbar trip comes with beach games the whole crew can enjoy (as well as chairs and an umbrella for when you just want to chill out!).

Another fun birthday party game? A good-old-fashioned scavenger hunt! You can assemble lists ahead of time to pass out to your guests—have them check off items like “seashells,” “pelicans,” and other on-the-water sights they’ll have fun searching for along the way. You can even include fun tasks (like silly photos or landing a catch) on your list of things to “hunt” for.

Festive favors

Stumped when it comes to party favors? You can’t go wrong with beach-inspired favors for everyone on board. Think fun character towels, personalized baseball caps or sunglasses, or buckets filled with shovels and other sand toys to enjoy on shore.

For picture-perfect snaps…

Don’t forget to capture the moment! Your on-the-water birthday party will feature lots of great photo ops, so bring along your phone or camera (and a waterproof case) to remember it all. One of the perks of a chartered boat trip? You always have a photographer handy, so there will never be anyone missing from your treasured snaps!

The custom touch

Is there something we’ve missed? Whether you want help presenting the perfect gift, want to bring along a delicious cake or simply want to customize your itinerary to visit a special spot, we’ve got you covered.

We hope that these tips help you accomplish a birthday party for the books. For additional ideas, or help with carrying out your custom idea, just give us a call—we’re happy to help tailor your trip to suit the whole crew and, of course, the birthday boy or girl!
